The Temple Visit

We were able to spend the weekend in San Diego and watch very good friends of ours get sealed as a family for time and all eternity. Interestingly enough the sealer was Dennis Vances big brother, what a small world. Thanks to the Hathaways for letting us be a part of a special day.

Picture for Tad's Moment

Tad's moment

Tad was recently called to be the second counselor in the Stake Young Men's Presidency. We had been wondering when they would set him apart so I could be there. It was not working out. On the trek President Ewell said, "Brother Marshall I feel like now is the time to set you apart." The Stake Presidency and Stake Young Men's Presidency along with Tad and I set off into the woods. We came across this spot with a stump and proceeded. When it was finished there were no words to say. The moment spoke for itself. Pres. Ewell then said, "Well boys, this is how they did it."

Trek 2008

We were given a family at noon on Friday and right away we felt the kids were picked just for us. We set off on Friday 08-01-08 at 5 pm and walked until Saturday morning at 2 am. During this time we found out that every one of our kids came out looking for something, and by Monday they had all found it. We got to camp and Pa took some of the boys into the woods in search of a kitchen table for Ma to cook on. Just love that Pa of ours. We had Joseph Smith visit the camp for a fireside. We had the blessing of having church outside in the woods. We were able to watch 16 young men in their pioneer garb pass the sacrament to us. We were also able to help our 10 children overcome the fear of bearing their testimony in front of their peers. It was the best Sunday of our lives. I was able to shoot a gun for the first time. Tad was asked to speak in Priesthood (no pressure in front of the Stake Presidency.) I was told by many it was a wonderfully powerful talk. I think this Ma and Pa went out in search of things too, and we were blessed to find them. On the way back from our 22 mile trek, we were able to partake in nature's shower. It rained the last 1 mile of the trek and the kids loved it. President Poulson mentioned in the 15 treks he has been on this was the most physically challenging. Walking back into the church parking lot, hundreds of family members were waiting. At that moment I felt a glimpse of what it must be like to return home to our Heavenly Father honorably.
